In 2017 and 2018 Members of Woodsmoor Artists organised an art trial of their artwork displayed in 32 businesses windows in and around Stockport Old Town area and up St Petersgate to the Central Library. It was great fun to do but we decided to have a year off this year. However Stockport will not be without an art trail. In 2019 Totally Stockport, Stockport’s Business Improvement District and the team behind Stockport’s Giant Leap Frog Art Trail, is running a campaign to recruit local artists to design and paint the giant frogs that will form an art trail  called A Giant Leap Forward over summer 2019.

An army of 20 giant frogs will be leaping on to their lily pads across Stockport town centre with each frog sponsored by a local business and will be designed and painted by the winning artists in the specially created Frog Factory in the centre of Stockport. Artists who would like to be considered to work with Totally Stockport must answer a brief and submit their ideas by March 6th 2019. The one shown has been created for the Art Trail and is based on Stockport’s famous Strawberry Studios.

Businesses have already leapt forward to sponsor Stockport’s Giant Leap Forward, a unique Art Trail featuring 20 giant Stockport frogs in the town centre. While the art trail is designed to be fun, it also presents an opportunity to showcase Stockport, its business community and show how the town centre is changing.  The 20 giant frogs will be leaping onto lily pads strategically located throughout the town centre, creating an engaging and vibrant, outdoor art trail attracting thousands of people from across the region. People from all ages and backgrounds, from businesses, schools and community groups are being invited to take part in the project, visit the trail, explore the town and seek out all 20 frogs.
Some members of Woodsmoor Artists have taken up this challenge and are busy creating designs to submit to the organisers so we will add another post if any of our members are successful with their bids to have a design accepted
